Senior Principal Engineer (MD11-03)


Description

Support oversight of the JPALS Increment 1A development contractor on guidance quality issues. Specific oversight responsibilities include algorithm development, validation and verification and integrity/continuity allocation review. Serve as a liaison between the JPALS PMA-213 guidance control group and the JPALS PMA-213 test team. Specific liaison responsibilities evaluating test requirements and responsibility for data analysis activities. Support analysis of JPALS architecture enhancements to support future platforms, including the use of JPALS to support UCLASS auto-land capabilities. Candidate will develop end-to-end simulation of ship and ground based precision landing sensors and analyze and develop algorithms for the sea-based Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS). Analyze date to include: flight test data, static field test data, availability modeling, navigation and evaluation development and sensor data simulation. Identify and maintain compliance of the field and simulated data against accuracy and integrity guidance quality. Be able to review cost data and as it relates to GPS sensor, availability, performance and navigation modeling. Review and make recommendations regarding technology readiness assessments for JPALS developed technology.

Education and Experience

BS in an engineering or scientific discipline, or equivalent experience. Relevant experience in systems engineering on a DoD aeronautical program. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to review procedures for compliance with government regulations. Demonstrated skill set to work on problems of diverse scope. Ability to contribute to the development and achievement of an organization's goals and objectives. Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years experience with precision navigation systems. Specific expertise includes knowledge of FAA and NAVAIR certification processes, precision navigation algorithm development. Must also have expertise in data analysis methodology, including centimeter level accuracy verification techniques and use of flight test results to verify predicted system availability. Must be familiar with current GPS/JPALS architecture, algorithm approach, and integrity monitors

Required

Must be US Government Security Clearance eligible. Flexibility for travel.

Desired

MS, preferably in an engineering discipline and/or engineering management. Experience involving Systems Engineering and Integration type activities.
